Days
Words like “today”, “yesterday”, and “tomorrow”, possibly even “last week”, “next year”, et cetera are pronouns according to Cambridge CGEL. (Also see Noun Case.)
Shakespeare uses the phrase “all our yesterdays” in Macbeth: Act 5 Scene 5. Adjectives and adverbs can’t be plural, so “yesterdays” must be a noun (or pronoun), though many English guides still claim “yesterday” and “tomorrow” are adverbs.
Check the text: Anytime you see the word “today”, “yesterday”, or “tomorrow”, you could replace it with any day of the week, such as “Tuesday”. With Shakespeare’s phrase, you could just as easily say, “all our Mondays”.
To write off Shakespeare as using a “play on words” would excuse him, but not understand him. If you want to have more power with your words, learn to see “today”, “yesterday”, and “tomorrow” as pronouns that stand in place of some certain day of the week.
Location
Words like “abroad”, “out”, “outside”, “away”, “around”, “ahead” are pronouns of location. Some will say these are “adverbs of location”, but with Noun Case, we can see them differently and more effectively.
Consider the sentence, “I went home.” The word “home” is a pronoun as an location object or in this “case” an “Accusative-Location”.
